CCTV Production Recording - Case Study
Traceability of manufacturing processes is essential for continuous improvement and fault finding.
By integrating video recording to its standard traceability software, Pryor enabled its customer to log actual manufacturing footage against each individual product.
In this instance, 4 different video angles of the process were logged as a single data point against the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). In the event of a fault or quality concern the actual manufacturing process for that product can be instantly reviewed and corrective actions put in place.
On an automated production line with low operator supervision manufacturing faults are only discovered at quality check points further down the line. Understanding the cause of a fault can be a process of elimination and guesswork. Realtime video footage provides instant feedback on the actual manufacturing of individual components and assemblies.
After only 1 month in service this system was used to identify and rectify a manufacturing fault which caused a vehicle chassis to be scrapped - the monitoring system paid for itself in one shot.
Overview
By integrating the video footage into Pryor's traceability software, multiple video feeds are logged against a part number or identifier. This eliminates the need to search through hours of footage to find the right views. Instant search of the relevant part brings up all angles of the incident.
The traceability software can log additional manufacturing parameters alongside the video footage to give a complete picture for the quality engineer.
